Kids of Excellence ( April's Blog)

Community service: 4 hours

Total community service: 24 hours

The semester has officially ended, like I have expressed in my previous blogs I couldn't be more thankful. I never thought saying goodbye would be so emotional. This program has brought many enjoyable moments as well as stressful ones but, it was all worth it. All I can say is THANK YOU! and I would like to give a very special shout out to Mrs. Linda, your hard work never goes unnoticed (she's the best of the best). For the month of April, I volunteered at Kids of Excellence (child development center) located in St. Claude Ave. We came in approximately at 10 AM where the building was already sketched and numbered. Each number represented a different color and indicated in which part of the mural the color belonged. Painting the mural was very exciting bringing your creativity to life. Encouraging volunteers of all skills to participate filling in colors and adding details. The organizers created a fun and inviting atmosphere by playing music while we painted. They also had different stations with refreshments to keep everyone energized and motivated. Plenty of photos and videos were taken throughout the painting process to document the process and capture all the memories. The photos were shared with the volunteers as a memento of the project. It was a very memorable experience for everyone involved.
